Extra Virgin Organic Coconut oil is a highly praised natural ingredient cold-pressed extracted from the meat of the coconut, Cocos nucifera. It is semisolid at room temperature with a melting point of 76° F, ranging in color from an opaque white to light yellow appearance. As an unrefined material, extra virgin coconut oil yields its notable characteristic sweet, nutty aroma and flavor profile. Coconut oil is high in saturated fatty acids, especially lauric and myristic acid content, giving rise to this raw material as a preferred cooking oil that is highly resistant to oxidation and remains stable when exposed to heat. Other culinary applications for coconut oil include acting as a vegan-friendly butter or dairy substitution in baking recipes or coffee, or added to formulations for chocolate, salad dressing, or ice cream. Noted as one of the most popular carrier oils for soap and personal-care product development, extra virgin coconut oil can be found on ingredient labels of an endless array of beauty products including shampoo, conditioner, hair masks, makeup remover, lip balms, deodorants, tanning oil, moisturizers, and lotions. Its effective emollient, moisturizing, and hydrating properties are advantageous when creating topical products to treat dry or damaged skin and hair and is often used to treat after-sun exposure.
