Non-GMO Xylitol is a natural sugar alcohol produced through the hydrogenation of xylose typically derived from corn cobs or birch. This prevalent sweetener is in small crystal granular form with a pure white appearance.
Xylitol is widely used throughout the food and beverage industry as a low-calorie sweetener. It is a preferred sugar substitute due to it its nonexistent to extremely mild after-taste with only 2.4 calories per gram compared to 4 calories per gram in table sugar. In addition to food and beverage formulations, this ingredient is becoming widespread in everyday consumer hygiene products such as nasal spray, mouthwash, toothpaste, and oral rinses.
